Huanyang Vfd Programming Manual Another ReadingAlso gave the manual another reading through and I dont see any parameter adjustments to activatedeactivate the spindle speed, or change the speed control from the pot to the VIACM inputs. You seem adept at reading those electrical diagrams, maybe you can take a second look at that VR input. The VR10V5V is an output from the VFD which is used in conjunction with the potentiometer to generate the 0 - 10 volt control signal. You should read approximately 10 volts with the VFD turned on. So the only way to increase torque at low speed is to increase current. ![]() I want to run the motor at higher speeds but cannot find how to set the output frequency above 50Hz. A Google search returns scores of results with lots of users going through the same learning curve as me. I thought I had tried the suggested fix this morning but as I did so many other changes I could have actually missed that one. I have since fitted an electronic thermostat so the fan only come on when the VFD heatsink gets hot. ![]() At low frequency the motor torque is low so its never going to be doing much heat generating work, at higher frequencies the fan is turning faster so the motor looks after itself. One machine I have two on is causing some issues due to the carrier frequency but that is about to get fixed One item of interest is the requirement to use a filter on the output if the motor is not rated for inverter use - look on the manufacturer info and they all say the same thing, even the expensive proper inverters. I wonder what the filter does and whether it can do it over a range of frequencies. Its not something Im likely to need but previously I was always under the impression that the VFD outputs should be wired to the load directly. By filteringsmoothing the carrier, the motor sees something much closer to a sine wave and is not subject to the ringing etc. Read any of the other manuals and it will be in there associated with the basic wiringintegration instructions or it will be mentioned under accessories in the manual. I get the impression that they can improve a system but I suspect they add a lump of money. My experience of VFDs has been acquired over the last 15 years with seven motordrive setups. So far I have not had any noise, trip, or harmonics problems but I hope I dont have to get involved with reactors in the future. It illustrates the problem nicely at exactly 5 KHz which is the carrier frequency I have set. Further reading indicates that the carrier needs setting at 4 KHz if you feed via a reactor but I will wait and see the documentation when I get them. In a basic model of an induction motor torque is proportional to winding current.
